THE STAR
This began with a question. “WHAT DID THE KINGS SEE IN THE STAR THAT COMPELLED THEM TO FOLLOW IT ACROSS DESOLATE LANDS NOT KNOWING WHERE OR HOW FAR THEY WOULD TRAVEL?” I had no idea. “I think you will have to help Lord.”
I knew that kingdoms from the East had long associations with God’s people who had been conquered & exiled to their lands. Assyria, Babylonia & Persia, & Kings such as Ahasuerus (Xerxes), Darius, Cyrus & Nebuchadnezer all held God’s people captive & at times empathised with the Israelites as they saw the active power of their God, Jehovah. God’s servants like Daniel, Esther, Ezra & Jonah brought the word of God to these lands.
“SHOW ME A PORTION OF WHAT THEY SAW LORD.” I asked. He answered. “WHAT DID I SHOW TO ALL OF MY SERVANTS?” I poured through scriptures on prophecy & the appearance of the ancient of days, salvation & judgement upon mankind & the allegorical city Babylon (the world) from the book of Revelation. Then symbolically tried to piece together the Impossible.
Three kings & a company of magi & wise men study their charts or gaze in fear or awe. Babylon no longer existed at the time of the kings but see if you can spot these images in the vision.
The ancient of days hanging upon a cross of light, Mary & a manger resembling a lamb, 7 angels with bowls of wrath, 1 angel with a great millstone & an angel with great authority (Rev.16) holding a sword over the city, which is ablaze. The Ishtar Gate in front of the temple of Marduk or Bel. An idol of Bel (left) & Ishtar (right) with preoccupied worshippers ascending & descending the steps, unaware of the impending doom.
One ray from the star falls on One in the midst of the magi, clothed in scarlet whose glory illuminates the face of an onlooker. A woman on the harem balcony, trapped by her circumstances offers him her heart in the only way she can with a shower of red petals normally saved for returning victorious kings. She has recognised the King of Kings in her midst.
Often we are too busy worshipping at our own shrines to notice God in our midst. But to Christians and non-christians alike, have you made a decision to follow Him with all of your being, time, money & talents, no-matter where he takes you?
