THE BEACON
“They shall return and dwell beneath my shadow, they shall flourish
as a garden.” Hosea 14:7
Now I know that
Christians put you off a bit, but we aren’t all about tea parties,
jumble sales & open toed sandals, & yesWe are all hypocrites. Sorry
but hypocricy is part of the human condition & everyone has it to one
degree or another. Come on now, admit it! That is why we NEED to live within
His shadow at all times to receive forgiveness & live according to His
ways but you can’t do this alone. Being a Christian is an ongoing
way of life & we are all still “under construction.” We
can’t just accept Christ and then carry on as we were before. We must
continually come INTO HIS PRESENCE, learning what He says in His Word &
owning a new yardstick by which to gauge our lives & actions. We need
to learn to talk to Him (pray), listen to Him in His Word & in our hearts
but if we don’t learn to know Him we won’t recognise his voice
or know if what we hear is really from Him. We need the help of, hopefully
wiser Christians who can point us in the right direction & NO we don’t
always feel comfy in everyone’s company or agree with every Christian
all the time – WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!
Like the painting,
going back to the world’s way is like stepping back into a dark, dry
barren, yearning desert. I know! I continually wanted something more. JESUS
said, “ I CAME THAT THEY MAY HAVE LIFE, & HAVE IT ABUNDANTLY.”
Just as non-Christians can’t always see the victory of the work of
the cross, so they can’t see the deep relationship and personal interaction
between God & the Christian who dwells within the shadow of the Almighty.
But be certain that we do know the difference between living in a dessert
& a watered garden as we live IN HIS PRESENCE.
